The Abyss
I’m worried for you my friend
I don’t want to be vainglorious
But you must be aware
Surely you have noticed
The way others stop and stare
Wondering if you’ll join us.
Do you think you’ll live forever?
Are you paralyzed by fear?
Of making the wrong decision?
I understand, I swear.
It’s true you need discretion,
but you cannot only sit here.
Always, life has motion
Only the dead lie still
Pick a path, see where it leads
Try to climb that hill
Others will not meet your needs
They’ve other mouths to fill
Life’s not easy, nor fair
But If you never try
You’ll find yourself in a dark abyss
From the darkest depths you’ll cry
“I’ve done nothing to deserve this!”
And they will only reply,
“You’ve done nothing, that’s why you deserve it.”
